Beacon Evangelical Church
Beacon Church is a lively, multi-cultural, inner city Birmingham Church, actively engaged with its neighbourhood to see lives restored and community built up. Beacon helps to run a Trussell Trust Foodbank in Handsworth along with its own seniors' lunch club and numerous groups for children and young people. It has plans to expand its services to address mental health issues and to reach out to the many newcomers from around the world who have begun their stay in the UK, in our area.
As with most churches, Beacon's objects, for the public benefit, are to advance the Christian faith by communicating the Christian message, not just verbally and also by practical demonstrations of God’s love through compassionate care for members of the community, the provision of services from the base of the church building on Sandwell Road and through the members’ lifestyle within the community.
In overseeing and developing the activities of the Church, the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion.
Currently, Betterpoints donations will be allocated to the Beacon Centre Project. The Beacon Centre project is raising funds to build a new church and community centre to further our work in the community with the elderly and young people and to extend our service to help those with mental health struggles, minority communities and those struggling with debt and poverty. Our aim is to see many lives restored and community built.
